Yohani De Silva, professionally known as Yohani was born on 30 July 1993 in Colombo, Sri Lanka in a Buddhist family, she has practiced Buddhism since her early life.

Yohani is the daughter of a former Army officer Major General Prasanna de Silva and his wife Dinithi de Silva a former cabin crew member at Sri Lankan Airlines.

Yohani De Silva started her musical and singing career as a YouTuber and soon gained recognition for her rap cover of "Deviyange Bare". She released many covers of her singing and rapping which have earned her the title "Rap Princess" of Sri Lanka.
